Join Scout Perry, an aspiring documentary filmmaker and her brave (and slightly clueless) crew of ground squirrels for close encounters in the boreal forest. In this little known place that’s bigger than the Amazon, Scout discovers that all creatures can make a big impact on each other and the planet.
About Northern Tails
A puppet-powered wildlife web series with heart, smarts and silly bits.
After its wildly successful “mockmentary” pilot season, the curious (and slightly chaotic) crew of ground squirrels are now in charge of the forest’s favourite television station. Comedy, science and retro vibes are still at the heart of the show, but the species and environment are adapting to new climate realities.
Equal parts silly and sincere, Northern Tails is original edutainment created in the Yukon, Canada – to be shared around the world.

Bogs, fens, swamps, ponds, rivers and marshes perform INCREDIBLE functions that support the health of the entire planet. As we explore this vast land with the cast of Northern Tails TV, we learn how we can all be better neighbours.

Purify water: Vegetation filters and purifies water, improving water quality downstream – where the humans live!
Regulate extreme weather: Store water during wet seasons and release it in dry periods to help buffer extreme weather like floods and droughts.
Collect carbon: Store more carbon than anywhere – 230 BILLION TONS — to help regulate climate change. Super cool.
Promote biodiversity: Provide breeding grounds, feeding areas and refuge for many plant and animal species such as migratory birds, fish and mammals.
